The Importance of Calculating the Level of Activity

It is shocking as well as interesting to know that obesity has become a major concern among people since the eating habits and the daily activities don’t go side by side. The major reason for this is the sedentary lifestyle that people follow which gives no room for doing any kind of physical activity. Of course, there are individuals who are on the lookout for change and are on the constant activity of working out and following a rigorous diet.

Often people simply get carried over with the fact and simply overestimate the amount of calories that is burned as they work out and sometimes even underestimate the calories which they consume. Thereby, the result that is achieved is either weight gain or no weight loss. So, this dooms the workout session and the regime to being a failure. Not only that instead of losing weight, it even leads to frustration.

Now what happens is that it won’t be long enough when someone simply quits because of the least ability of losing any weight. Seriously, this is one of the serious problems which most of the gym goers face. Another biggest issue is that most of the people who want to lose weight just forgo the idea and trust in losing weight and the system too. As they don’t see any kind of noticable results, they simply blame the exercise and the diet regime.

What is left is the only solution which can provide a small perspective. It involves creating an activity table having 6 steps or levels. A worker who is employed or sweats at the construction site and goes to the gym for five days in a week would be having the highest level of six. Now a lot of individuals lie in the one group because of their sedentary lifestyle. And if you are a person who goes to the gym for about three times in a day then only you would reach the level two.

Most often most of the people fall in the second or first level. What such individuals need to understand is that since they have got less activity level, they really have to put in extra efforts and time at the gym. Various people are still not aware on how much tough it is to lose a great amount of weight. For eg; a person who spends about an hour on the treadmill would simply be burning about 300 calories. In order to lose a single pound the individual would have to at least walk for about 12 hours. Of course, no person can spend that much amount of time at the gym.

Now with regard to the amount of calories burned, many people never realize the amount of calories that is there in their food. For eg; a single cup of white rice would provide about 200 calories and just imagine for an average person who simply consumes that as their daily meal would gain about 1000 calories from rice alone. So it is high time that one identifies the activity level. There are various methods like online calorie calculators and hiring personal trainer or nutritionist. But remember that each method is different and would require you to do an extensive research.
