There is no doubt that one of the versatile and important organ of the human body is the tongue. It not only assist in keeping our body nourished, but helps in maintaining the health (of course of our mouth) and even in communication. However, there are very few people who are still not aware that tongue provides information about our physical and emotional health. Having a small and basic knowledge about your tongue can provide information about your lifestyle, environment, diet, etc. which drastically affects you internally.

To define a tongue, it is a strong muscle which is covered by a layer of moist and pink tissue. The tiny bumps which are present on the surface of the tongue is Papillae and it is the main organ which detects the bitter, sour, sweet and salty tastes. Sometimes it could be the signs of disease, injury, or some kind of basic and functional changes like changes in lifestyle and aging. A white and thicker coat would mean the basic weakness of the physiological functions related to the body.

A heavy and white coat would show viral infection. Sometime it can implement the physiological roles which could not be performed. The yellow thick coating indicates the presences of heat in the body or it can be related to the bacterial inflammation or infection. For a healthy tongue and good circulation, pale red tongue is ideal.
