Importance of Breakfast

It is an indispensable fact that what we eat in the morning sets the phase for our brilliant choices throughout the day!! Amid the morning chaos, it has become a common practice of neglecting breakfast. Yet, taking a couple of minutes to eat something can truly have a healthy effect on your body!

Breakfast gives you both the physical and mental energy to kick start your metabolism for the day. When it comes to a healthy breakfast, it does not only mean the consumption of food but rather eating the right quantities and calories.

The breakfast being the most important meal of the day, should be a balanced one and rich in fiber, protein, and complex carbohydrates. Having good fats helps in boosting your brain power providing a stabilized mind-set. Best examples include avocado on a toast, oatmeal or whole wheat toast with almond butter. Besides these, having an egg everyday gives you extra protein, as the eggs are a great source of protein.

During busy mornings, having a mix of fruits and vegetables is enough to keep you from overeating later in the day. Those who are on a diet to lose weight, should have a breakfast that is rich in fiber and protein & low in fat and sugar such as fruits or vegetables. Do avoid donuts, pastries etc. On the contrary, people who like to gain weight have high-fat dairy, dried fruits and nuts etc.

The importance of having a breakfast can be very well understood by an old popular saying – “Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a prince and Dine like a pauper”!!
